Special Deicing Features

The flexibility of The Airport Machine simulation model is demonstrated by its ability to handle special situations that exist on many airports such as  deicing facilities. Vancouver (YVR), and Stockholm's Arlanda (ARD) are used to illustrate these features. (Double click a slide to enlarge it, and then press the Back button to resume.)

These three aerial views of Vancouver Island are from a deicing study done for YVR airport. Mr.Sid orthoquad photos are used as a backdrop to enhance visual reality.

This view shows three existing deicing bays that are located in the vicinity of the gates that they service .

This third view is of a planned 7-bay deicing station that was evaluated by the Airport Machine model.

This overhead view of Stockholm's Arlanda airport show new runway 19L.

This view shows a new deicing station that will be needed at the head of the new runway.

This is another view of the deicing station and associated taxiways that were studied during the study.
